For a diamond to be brilliant a number of factors are required. It must be cut and polished in a way that light can be gathered and redirected to the eye efficiently.
Fire is the flashes of rainbows which can be seen well in the darker environment where there are only few lights.
As light enters and exits a diamond, the rare allure of the unique gemstone is revealed. Light performance is the combined grading of the four light qualities that define the diamond's individual beauty: Brilliance, Sparkle, Fire and Light Symmetry.
Fluorescence is an invisible glow that a diamond emits under UV rays. GIA scale uses the following grades to identify fluorescence: None, Faint, Medium, Strong, and Very Strong. More than 95% times, color of fluorescence is blue, but diamonds can fluoresce other colors as well.
Hearts and Arrows diamonds are unmatched in precision, beauty and perfection in cutting. They offer edge-to-edge brilliance with explosions of white and colored light, even in low light conditions. The intrinsic appeal of the hearts and arrows pattern, with its association to Cupid, is obvious; even if the heart pattern is invisible once the diamond is set.
The Optical Symmetry is how well the diamond facets interact to each other and where are they located. The good optical symmetry brings more contrast and ultimate beauty.
Brightness is the intensity of the sparkle in the diamond while it moves. Brightness can be seen better in the office lighting environments where fire can be totally absent.
